Remembering September 11th

Tomorrow marks the anniversary of September 11, forever changing our nation. As we pause to remember the events of that tragic day in 2001, I’m reminded of the resilience and strength that define the American spirit across our country, and locally in our community.

It’s been more than two decades since the attacks, but the memories of that day remain etched in our hearts. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the countless first responders who bravely rushed toward danger, and the unity that brought us all together in the aftermath.

On this solemn day, I encourage you to take a moment to honor those who sacrificed everything for the safety and freedom we enjoy today. Whether you’re attending a memorial event, participating in a moment of silence, or simply reflecting with your family, it’s important that we keep their legacy alive.

If you are looking for a way to honor our heroes locally, you can also lay flowers at the foot of our September 11th memorial at Fire Station 99 at 13400 Morrison Street. Our memorial features a piece of rebar from the World Trade Center—a somber reminder of those lives lost. Also, keep your eyes on the Moreno Valley ‘M’ adorned in red, white, and blue in honor of National Day of Service and Remembrance.

As your mayor, I’m proud of how our City comes together in times of both celebration and remembrance. Let’s continue to support one another, not just today but every day, by living out the values of compassion, courage, and community that define us.

Thank you for making Moreno Valley a place where we never forget the importance of standing together as we remember the heroes of 9/11 and look forward to building a brighter, stronger future for us all.
