The City of Moreno Valley has 11 boards/commissions covering important quality of life topics. Currently, nine boards/commissions have openings that Moreno Valley residents (or business customers of Moreno Valley Utility for the Utilities Commission) are encouraged to apply for. Please visit the City’s Boards and Commissions webpage at moval.org/serve for qualifications and deadlines.

 

“If you’re passionate about getting involved and serving the community, I highly recommend joining one of the City’s many boards or commissions,” says Mayor Ulises Cabrera. “It allows you to help make a difference right here in your hometown, and advocate for causes that are important to you.”

All Advisory Boards and Commissions are established by the Moreno Valley City Council and include:

 

·     The Accessibility Appeals Board, conducting public hearing on written appeals regarding Title 24 accessibility issues

·     The Airport Commission, considering The Accessibility Appeals Board, conducting public hearing on written appeals regarding Title 24 accessibility issues

·     The Arts Commission, considering matters pertaining to the planning and promoting arts activities and education in the City

·     The Emerging Leaders’ Council, considering issues of importance to the community’s youth and young adults.

·     The Environmental and Historical Preservation Board, considering matters pertaining to the preservation of the City's heritage and cultures.

·     The Library Commission, considering matters pertaining to the administration, operation, development, improvement and maintenance of library services.

·     The Parks, Community Services, and Trails Committee, considering matters pertaining to the administration, operation, development, improvement, and maintenance of parks, recreation and trails facilities, and parks and recreation programs

·     The Planning Commission, considering matters pertaining to development and zoning within the City (Planning Commissioners are compensated $100 per meeting)

·     The Senior Citizens' Advisory Board, considering matters pertaining to senior citizens, senior citizens programs, including policies for the Moreno Valley Senior Community Center

·     The Traffic Safety Commission, considering matters pertaining to traffic safety within the City

·     The Utilities Commission, considering matters pertaining to Moreno Valley Utility, and to other utility services such as water, sewer, gas, and the investor-owned electric utility
