Sophia Burke, 100, of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024 in Grand Terrace, CA. Born April 5th 1924 to Percy and Minnie Lawton, Sophia was a child with a beautiful Soprano voice. After graduating from high school, she attended Bethune Cookman College. During her college years, a local song writer inspired by Sophia's voice wrote a song for Sophia to sing on a radio broadcast.Sophia moved to New York City in 1961 to pursue her dreams of employment in the business world. She enjoyed a her success and ultimately decided upon a move to California.Sophia is survived by her son Charles Bates Jr., who misses her dearly. She spent the balance of her life surrounded by family in Grand Terrace. Sophia's life was blessed with three grandchildren Angel, Juan Carlos and Sophia and two great grand children Joshua and Ashley, whom she adored. She will be remembered as a giving, kind, and loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Sophia Burke's Celebration of Life will be on August 17th at 2pm.Church Services: Grand View Baptist Church 22755 Vista Grande Ave. Grand Terrace, CA 92313 There will be a small reception held at the Blue Mountain Senior Apartments lounge

A celebration of Ronald Eugene Barnett's life will be held on July 7, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Norton Younglove Community Center in Highgrove. Friends, family, and all whose lives Ron touched are invited to attend and honor his memory.
