Breast cancer survivors will take the spotlight at Loma Linda University Health System Department of Plastic Surgery’s 7th annual Pink Runway Sunday, Sept. 27 at noon at the Riverside Convention Center, 3637 Fifth Street in Riverside. Building on success over the years, the annual Breast Cancer Reconstruction Seminar and Fashion Show promises a day of inspiration and empowerment as breast cancer survivors model current styles and fashions “We are very proud of this event and its evolution over the years. We have made a true difference in the Inland Empire helping to ensure that all women are educated on their reconstructive options post-mastectomy, which is the main goal of the Pink Runway event,” said Dr. Subhas Gupta, chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery. This year’s event will also highlight interactive and educational exhibitors preceding the inspiring fashion show. All of the models are breast cancer survivors showcasing apparel provided by White House Black Market. The annual model tribute video also adds a very personal message from the survivors. “We believe it is critical to educate women with breast cancer about their reconstructive surgery options because of the positive impact reconstructive surgery often has,” Gupta added. Research supported by the Pink Runway and the Department of Plastic Surgery has found a 41% increase in the rate of breast cancer reconstruction in the Inland Empire community over the past six years since the event’s inception. The agenda for the event includes “pink carpet” arrivals and photos, silent auction, opportunity drawings, video tribute to breast cancer survivors, delicious cancer-fighting food samples and prizes preceding the fashion show, which promises to be the highlight of the event. Ticket prices range between $35 and $45 each and may be purchased online at ThePinkRunway.com. Special pricing is available for students and health care workers; and cancer survivors are free.
