In a notable addition to Grand Terrace's City Council, Michelle Sabino has been appointed to fill the recent vacancy left by Mrs. Sylvia Ramos, bringing her vast experience and community-focused vision to the forefront. The election, characterized by a robust pool of applicants, underscored the community's commitment to active civic participation and governance.

Michelle Sabino, a distinguished resident and small business owner with over 30 years of community service, articulated a compelling case for her appointment during the City Council special session. With an educational background in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Loma Linda University, and a proven track record in nonprofit leadership, Sabino's expertise is anticipated to greatly benefit the city's strategic development plans.

During her address to the council and community members, Sabino emphasized her dedication to equitable quality of life improvements and her extensive experience in managing community programs. Her role as the co-founder of the Hope Culture nonprofit organization, which focuses on mentoring youth and adults in marginalized communities, highlights her commitment to social advocacy and public welfare.

The council session provided a platform for Sabino to detail her qualifications, from overseeing nonprofit boards and securing funding through grants to consulting with local rehabilitation centers. Her hands-on approach in policy development and program implementation has been instrumental in enhancing services for the local population.

Councilman Henderson, reflecting on the Vision 2030 for Grand Terrace, sought Sabino's insights into aligning her future endeavors with the city’s long-term goals. Sabino reassured the council of her alignment with the vision's objectives, particularly emphasizing fiscal responsibility, community engagement, and strategic planning to enhance city resources and development timelines.

The selection process was marked by enthusiasm and commendation from the council members and the public, illustrating the vibrant democratic spirit within Grand Terrace. Councilman Alan and Mayor Hussey praised the high caliber of all candidates, acknowledging the difficult decision due to the exceptional qualifications presented.

Michelle Sabino's appointment not only brings a new dynamic to the City Council but also represents a promise of continued community engagement and progressive governance. Her closing statement resonated with commitment and gratitude, pledging to uphold the interests of the residents and to collaborate effectively with her fellow council members for the betterment of Grand Terrace.
