around the corner, and as Moreno Valley families gather to cook a delicious holiday feast, it's crucial to recognize potential safety hazards in the kitchen.

Here are a few tips on how to stay safe this Thanksgiving:

·     Make sure your smoke alarm has fresh batteries. If you need a smoke alarm, get one for free at Moreno Valley City Hall through our SAFER program.

·     Children must always be at least three feet away from the stove.

·     Keep a fire extinguisher near the kitchen, and be sure to keep it at least 10 feet away from the stove on the exit side of the kitchen.

·     If your clothing should catch fire, immediately stop, drop, and roll to extinguish the flames.

·     Keep pot handles on the stove pointing to the back and always watch young children in the kitchen.
